Wait, how much water??

It takes 53 gallons of water to produce a single egg and 636 gallons to produce a dozen.

I always knew water conservation was important, but when I heard that statistic last week, I stopped dead in my tracks….THAT IS SO MUCH WATER!

So, I started doing some research on the Supply vs. Demand of water in our world.

The first thing I learned is only 0.03% of the Earth’s water can actually be consumed by humans, meaning 99.7% of the water on Earth can’t be.

And Food & Product Production really uses a ton of water!

To produce...

1 can of beer = 20 gallons of water.

1 cup of coffee =35 gallons of water.

1 slice of Pizza = 42 gallons of water.

1 liter plastic water bottle = 3 liters of water.

1 pound of beef = 1799 gallons of water.

1 pound of chocolate = 3170 gallons.

These statistics have motivated me to make some water conservation efforts of my own, like shortening my 5-minute shower to 3 & cut back on using plastic water bottles.

Use your re-usable SOL water bottle to cut back on water consumption, and increase clean drinking water for people all over the world. It’s a win-win!
